Burial Practices
An ornate stone box is created and put in the family's in-home shrine. The ashes of the deceased are placed inside the box and it is sealed shut. A photo of the deceased is placed on the box along with a few possessions. Every time someone visits, they must put a lit stick of incense in a bowl filled with sand and cleanse their mouth and hands. After the box has been sealed, the family begins Kichu-Fuda. A priest is called to lead the ritual. The family wears solid black clothing and carry a rosary. The priest and family march to the shrine and begin to pray. This prayer begins a 24 hour period of intense mourning.
